French wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga’s valuation has reportedly dropped, in news that could, and maybe should, put Tottenham Hotspur on red alert.

According to AS, who cover Real Madrid’s interest in the teenager, say Rennes are now valuing their young superstar at around £45 million, as he comes into the final 18 months of his contract.

Camavinga’s previous value has been as a high as £68 million, and the drop is bound to pique the attention of clubs across Europe.

Spurs are one side that have been linked with a move for Camavinga in the past.

In October, football.london reported that the north London giants were considering a possible swoop in 2021.

£45 million seems a tantalising asking price for a player with world-class potential, and Spurs arguably have another reason to pursue him if that really is what Rennes will sell for.

Camavinga’s compatriot Moussa Sissoko is not getting any younger, and the club will have to think about a long-term replacement for the midfielder at some point.

TBR’s View – Camavinga an excellent long-term replacement

At the moment, Sissoko is playing well for Spurs and has the trust of manager Jose Mourinho.

But the £80,000-a-week star (Spotrac) will be 32 at the start of next season, and it can be argued he is coming to the end of his career.

He is certainly past his peak, and the club should be looking at potential long-term replacements.

Camavinga has excellent versatility just like Sissoko, but has highly impressive technical quality the ex-Newcastle United star hasn’t really been known for.
