Arsenal U-21s’ beat Monaco 2-1
Arsenal hosted Monaco at Meadow Park last night in what was a really fun game of football to watch.
The Gunners dominated most parts of the clash and could’ve even had an early penalty. However, the referee waved play on, but it didn’t take too long for the youngsters to take the lead.
Catalin Cirjan opened the scoring with a fine finish after he received the ball from skipper Matt Smith.
Cirjan was absolutely fantastic and he showed fellow Arsenal youngster Charlie Patino – who was watching the game from the stands – that he’s ready to provide some stiff competition when he comes back from Blackpool.
Arsenal had plenty of chances from that point until the hour mark to extend their lead, but they missed numerous opportunities. Thankfully for the young Gunners, Jack Henry-Francis sealed the game in the 69th minute.
Monaco pulled a goal back 13 minutes before the end of normal time, but that wasn’t enough to mount a comeback.
