Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker saved a penalty to help Brazil through to the next round of the Copa America. Hosts Brazil laboured to a narrow penalty shootout victory over Paraguay.

And while the team has been heavily criticised, Alisson can hold his head high after another impressive display. He kept his fourth consecutive clean sheet in the tournament.

In all three group games, Alisson was not beaten. The 26-year-old kept Bolivia, Venezuela and Peru at bay. And he ensured that Paraguay did not breach his defence either.

When it got to the penalty shootout, Paraguay had a glorious chance to shock the hosts. Having been down to 10 men for most of second half, Paraguay did well to withstand Brazil’s barrage.

But Alisson ensured that no shock would occur in the Copa America quarter-finals. The Brazilian stopper, who is preferred to Manchester City’s Ederson, made a vital save as his side progressed.

Liverpool fans took to Twitter to hail their goalkeeper after his heroics saw Brazil move into the semi-finals. And here are some of the best tweets about Alisson.
