Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah is travelling to Leeds to finalise a season-long loan switch to Elland Road, according to BBC (Transfer Live Blog, 8 August, 9:15am).

David Ornstein reports that the young hotshot is en route to become Leeds’ replacement for Kemar Roofe, who left for Anderlecht this week, leaving Marcelo Bielsa in dire need of a striker.

Bristol City, Fortuna Düsseldorf and Swansea City are named as three clubs Nketiah has rejected to sign for the Whites, after a hugely impressive pre-season with Arsenal.

Now he looks like being the man charged with getting on the end of the endless chances Leeds create and making them more prolific than last season.

There’s no doubt that Nketiah is a fantastic talent and he could well have done a job at Arsenal as a backup this season, but will likely get more regular games at Leeds.

It’s a huge burden on young shoulders to be charged – along with Patrick Bamford – with netting the goals to finally take Leeds back to the promised land.

But he’s a born goalscorer, young and hungry to prove he’s a player who can cut it in the senior game and should come along leaps and bounds under Marcelo Bielsa.

Leeds may well have got themselves a gem, capable of netting goals on a regular basis.
