Eddie Nketiah was amongst those to take to Instagram to respond to Luke Ayling’s post following Leeds United’s win against Bristol City on Saturday.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side collected a hugely important three points at Elland Road. The Whites were the only side in the Championship’s top eight to win over the weekend.
But the decisive goal came from an unlikely source. Ayling was able to smash the ball home after something of a scramble inside the Bristol City box during the first-half.
And Leeds were grateful for the right-back popping up with his left foot. The automatic-promotion chasers were dominant over the 90 minutes, but could not add to their tally before the full-time whistle.
Unsurprisingly, Ayling took to social media after the game to express his delight at getting the goal.
A number of his Leeds teammates responded to the post. But there was also a message from a player who left Elland Road at the start of the January transfer window.
Nketiah returned to Arsenal over a lack of game-time during his loan spell. But he showed that he is still keeping a keen eye on his former club’s progress.
The striker praised Ayling – who also came through the ranks at Arsenal – for a finish that he would have arguably been very happy with.
Here is Ayling’s post on social media, as well as Nketiah’s response…
