Eddie Nketiah sent a farewell message on Twitter after his time at Leeds United came to an end.
The 20-year-old joined the Whites on a season-long loan in the summer, but parent club Arsenal have cut his loan short in January.
Marcelo Bielsa confirmed (official website) that the centre-forward’s spell at Elland Road has been ended.
The striker played in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw against West Brom in the Championship and he will now return to the Emirates Stadium.
The Englishman departs the Yorkshire club with five goals in 19 games across all competitions, but unfortunately for him he found himself stuck behind Patrick Bamford in the pecking order.
Nketiah posted on social media following his premature exit and sent a thank you message to supporters.
TBR’s View:
Nketiah proved during his brief stint with Leeds why he’s so highly-rated at Arsenal and it’s no surprise that they have decided to recall him from his loan.
He ultimately wasn’t getting enough minutes to help his development and it will be no surprise if he’s loaned out to a Championship rival for the second half of the season.
Nketiah is a poacher that thrives around the penalty area and is a natural finisher, but Bamford is more suited to Bielsa’s style and is a real talisman in attack.
