Eddie Nketiah hails Leeds teammate Patrick Bamford

Eddie Nketiah has praised Leeds United teammate Patrick Bamford despite the fact they are competing for one position and feels he will learn from him.

Nketiah has made an excellent impact at Elland Road since he joined in the summer on loan from Arsenal, with three goals in four games across all competitions.

The 20-year-old is a centre-forward that comes alive around the penalty area and has shown he can score poachers goals.

He’s looked impressive on both starts in the Carabao Cup, but has only featured off the bench so far in the Championship.

Bamford has been the preferred starter in the league and he’s managed four goals in six games across all competition this term.

The 25-year-old is a left-footed striker that has a wealth of experience with 127 appearances in the Championship and is currently performing well for Marcelo Bielsa’s team.

Nketiah has delivered high praise of his teammate rival in his press conference ahead of the weekend’s fixture against Swansea City.

“He’s (Bamford) a great player. He’s been playing at this level for a while now, I’m sure I’ll learn things from him. It’s great competition to have,” Nketiah said, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

TBR’s View:

With Leeds top of the Championship table and playing so well, it looks impossible for Bielsa to pull Bamford out of the starting XI.

But it’s a brilliant reassurance knowing that the Whites have a quality backup option in Nketiah waiting to seize his chance and fans are already excited by what they have seen from him so far.

Nketiah seems a young player with a mature head on his shoulders and it will be great for him to pick up tips from someone with Bamford’s experience.

But they are certainly competitors in the race for one starting spot and the Arsenal loanee will be desperate to force his way into the team quickly.
