Newcastle United’s pre-season has now got underway as the Toon have jetted off to Germany for the first leg of their international tour.
It has been a rollercoaster ride of a summer transfer window so far with Newcastle having been pressed by PSR last month.
The Magpies were forced to cash in on two of their young prospects in Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh in order to balance the books.
However, attention can now turn to bolstering their squad with quality additions on the back of a season where the Toon suffered heavily through injuries.
Paul Mitchell has now been appointed as the sporting director at St James’ Park and Eddie Howe has seemingly already set his man to work.

Eddie Howe sets transfer demands ahead of Japan pre-season tour
So far this summer, Newcastle have seen three new faces come through the doors on Tyneside with Lloyd Kelly kickstarting their summer on a free transfer.
Since the defender made the move north, goalkeepers John Ruddy and Odysseas Vlachodimos have joined the Magpies.
However, fans are yet to see any big money arrivals land at St James’ so far with Howe keen to see that change over the coming weeks.
According to The Athletic, Howe has now asked the club for at least two new additions before the club jet off to Japan later this month.
The Toon have already departed the country for their German leg of their pre-season tour after what has been a fairly steady start to their window in terms of signings.
Newcastle’s desire to add at right-wing and centre-back was reinforced in the report with Howe seemingly set on improving those two positions specifically.

Howe’s men have now jetted off to Germany to start their pre-season efforts but the first friendly of the summer does not come until the end of the month.
Newcastle will return to England to face Championship side Hull City in Hull on 27 July.
However, there will then be a quick turnaround for their trip to Japan with Newcastle then playing on the following Wednesday (31 July) against Urawa Red Diamonds.
The Magpies will then play on the Saturday (3 August) against Yokohama F. Marinos before returning home for The Sella Weekender on home soil.
