Eddie Howe has told his first Newcastle press conference – as per The Chronicle – that he has been blown away by the support of Toon fans.
Howe, 43, was confirmed as Newcastle manager this week, after watching his newly-inherited side draw with Brighton away from home on Saturday.
The ex-Bournemouth gaffer has penned a contract until June 2024 at Newcastle. He has been tasked with keeping Newcastle in the division/
Howe is also expected to bring in numerous signings in January, with the club likely to wield their spending power at the first available opportunity.

Speaking in first press conference, Howe came across very well. There is optimism on Tyneside again – and he gave his verdict on Newcastle’s fans.
“It’s been absolutely fantastic. I’m not on social media myself so I haven’t probably sampled everything people have said,” Howe said.
“That is probably a good thing but the level of excitement, level of respect shown to me and level of interest is a new experience for me.”
Howe on Newcastle fans: Beating Brentford would win over fanbase
While it seems to be a match made in heaven, and Howe is doing and saying all the right things – he does still have some doubters.
Only natural, when considering that the Newcastle board initially went after four-time Europa League winner and Ligue 1 champion Unai Emery.
So, appointing Howe was always going to come across as somewhat underwhelming. But ultimately, he is impressing in his first days.
But what will get the entire fanbase on board, is a win against Brentford when the international break comes to an end next Saturday.
