Eddie Gray claims Leeds have a ‘very strong squad’

Eddie Gray has explained he’s confident about Leeds United right now and feels that their strong squad could prove crucial.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side currently sit fifth in the Championship table and supporters are desperately hoping this season they can finally achieve promotion back to the top-flight.

The Whites are in a chasing pack hoping to earn automatic promotion and are two points off leaders West Brom during the international break.

There are a number of talented sides in the division, but the Yorkshire giants are considered one of the favourites to go up and usually dominate the ball against most teams.

Bielsa’s philosophy has seen Leeds become an excellent possession-based side and they play an attractive style of football at Elland Road, but they need to become more clinical.

Leeds legend Gray is confident about his former side’s prospects and highlighted the importance of a talented squad.

“I’m optimistic [going forward]. We know it’s not easy to get out of this league, the Championship is a tough league. But I think there is enough players at the football club, especially if we get everyone fit,” Gray told LUTV.

“We look at the squad now and everybody is fit it’s a very strong squad. Hopefully the players will push on and realise their ambitions. To be able to compete in the Premier League, that’s got to be the aim for everyone at the club.”

TBR’s View:

Leeds do have quality all over the pitch in their squad and it’s been a good job so far this season, as several of their players have had different injury problems.

The likes of Eddie Nketiah and Tyler Roberts are two attacking players that have not had too much time on the pitch this season, but could make a serious impact if they get regular chances in the team.

There is also plenty of competition in both defence and midfield, which is why Bielsa’s team should be in the mix around the top end of the table at the end of the season.
