Eddie Gray claims Leeds defenders are under added pressure

Eddie Gray claims that there is now an “added pressure” on Leeds United’s defence that has seen them start to leak goals and he puts that down to a fresh problem of struggling at the other end of the pitch.

The Yorkshire club have conceded 27 times in their 30 league games this season, but they started in fantastic defensive form.

Marcelo Bielsa’s team had shipped just 10 goals in their opening 20 matches, but in their following 10 games have conceded 17 goals to look like a different outfit.

The Whites are currently sat second in the league table still occupying an automatic promotion spot, but the chasing pack behind are edging close and applying the pressure.

They have trips to fourth-placed Nottingham Forest and fifth-placed Brentford in their next two games to try negotiate.

Leeds legend Gray believes that the team’s inability to finish off attack chances is now starting to hurt them at the back.

They have dominated in nearly every league game they have played this season and usually create a host of chances, but recently have drawn a blank.

“A slight worry as well at this stage is something that never happen in the early part of the season, we are conceding goals and that is a problem,” Gray told LUTV.

“That comes because if you’re not scoring goals and dominating teams there is always that added pressure on defenders.”

TBR’s View:

Leeds have failed to score in three of their last four games and they have ended up losing in all of them, which has seen their position at the top end of the table begin to look far less comfortable.

They must be the most wasteful attacking team in the division and it feels like they create enough chances to beat their opponents in every game, but can’t always find their way through.

Leeds’ defence were never quite going to keep up their incredible start to the season, but the drop off has been too big and individual errors such as from goalkeeper Kiko Casilla are beginning to cost them.
