Could Eboue Kouassi play a role for Celtic this season?

Celtic have released their Europa League squad, with some surprising choices for fans to consider. Manchester City loanee Daniel Arzani may be good enough for the World Cup squad with Australia, but he has not made the Celtic shortlist.

But one man who could be in line to face RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg and Rosenborg is Eboue Kouassi.

Which is quite a shock, considering he was told he could leave the club last month. As reported by the Daily Record, the Ivorian was told to find a new club on deadline day after Celtic snapped up Youssouf Mulumbu.

But Kouassi remained and could now play a part in Celtic’s season.

When the Bhoys spent £3 million to bring the Ivory Coast international to Glasgow from Krasnodar it looked like a fantastic deal.

The midfielder was being tipped for big things after impressing in Russia. However, in his 18 months at Parkhead, he has found the going tough.

Kouassi has played just 11 times in the Scottish top-flight since making his move to Scotland and Celtic fans have never got to see him at his best.

But with a place in the Europa League squad also came a seat on the bench for last weekend’s Old Firm derby.

Battling past the likes of Olivier Ntcham, Scott Brown and Mulumbu for first-team football is going to be tough for the youngster. But if he can seize this reprieve he could be as good as a new signing for Celtic.
