Eberechi Eze says Arsenal have a £30m player who’s more skilful than Bukayo Saka

Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka has wowed with jaw-dropping trickery over the years.

One of the best players in the world, Bukayo Saka has made a career from menacing full-backs at the highest level, not to mention his clinical end product.

Mikel Arteta is lucky enough to be blessed with a squad full of talented players, and he will hope they are capable of firing Arsenal to a first Premier League title since 2004.

Saka is, of course, a standout, but according to Eberechi Eze, someone else actually tops him in the skills department.

Eberechi Eze says Martin Odegaard is more skilful

It’s been a red-hot start to life at Arsenal for Eze, who now looks to have found his feet despite being shifted into various positions across the frontline.

Eze is primarily competing with club captain Martin Odegaard for the No 10 role and both have impressed there this season, leaving Arteta with a welcome selection headache.

Either way, the former Crystal Palace man has settled into his new surroundings and has already formed a glowing impression of his team-mates.

However, when asked by the Premier League’s TikTok account to name the most skilful player in training, he provided a surprise response.

“Martin Odegaard,” Eze replied, after a brief hesitation.

If similarly put on the spot, Odegaard may well have sung Eze’s praises, too.

Mikel Arteta on Eberechi Eze’s qualities

The big question on everyone’s lips at the Emirates is which of Eze or Odegaard starts behind the striker.

Arteta has serious attacking depth this season, but there can only be one out-and-out playmaker.

He could be tempted to move Eze out to the left, where he has flourished before, and keep Odegaard through the middle, ensuring there is a spot for both of them in the starting XI.

“He does things that, in the book, are unexpected,” said Arteta about Eze. “When you think he’s going to turn right, he goes left. When he thinks that he’s going to take another touch, he releases the ball.

“It’s his vision, he’s a player who can create those magic moments, and at some points, he can steal the ball in a way that not many players can do.”
