Eberechi Eze has claimed that Arsenal youngster and England under-21 teammate Eddie Nketiah has the potential to go to the very top, in comments reported by London News Online.

Nketiah is back on international duty having become the under-21s’ all-time leading goalscorer during the previous break.

But having only scored once in his previous 10 appearances for the Gunners, Nketiah perhaps links up with the national side with a point to prove.

Eze however, is clearly confident that Nketiah will prove any doubters wrong. The £20 million Crystal Palace summer signing (fee reported by Sky Sports) insisted that he has limitless potential, as long as those around him avoid putting additional pressure on him.

“He is a great striker. He’s got goal after goal – everyone knows that,” he said, as reported by London News Online.

“In terms of what you guys should be doing [in the media], I don’t know. I think you should leave him alone and let him continue doing what he’s doing and reach the heights that he can do without the pressure of everyone else putting anything on him.

“In terms of his level and his ability, he can go as high as he wants and that is the important thing about him.”

TBR View: Real opportunity for Nketiah

Nketiah has arguably got his best opportunity yet to earn a prominent role in Mikel Arteta’s plans at the Emirates.

First choice Alexandre Lacazette has not scored in his last six appearances for the Gunners. Unlike Nketiah, he has started all of the club’s last three Premier League games.

So if Nketiah can impress for club and country in the coming weeks, perhaps there will be a greater number of calls for the youngster to get more of a chance in the Arsenal first-team.

If he gets that opportunity, Eze is seemingly optimistic that he will be able to make the most of it.
