‘Easier one to do’: £35m defender may be more likely to sign for Tottenham than Jean-Clair Todibo – journalist

Tottenham need a new centre-back through the door this month.

The north London club’s lack of depth in that position has been highlighted in recent weeks after injuries to both Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven, and it’s something that needs addressing.

Luckily, Spurs appear to be very much on the case with a number of options linked.

One player who is said to be a target for Tottenham is Jean-Clair Todibo, but speaking on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, Alasdair Gold has claimed that it may be easier for Spurs to go and sign Radu Dragusin this month.

Dragusin easier to sign than Todibo

Gold shared what he knows about the £35m defender.

“It feels like Todibo and Dragusin are the frontrunners for the centre-back spot. It feels like Dragusin is the easier one to do right now. It feels like Genoa would be more willing to let him leave than Nice would with Todibo, they’re in the title fight in Ligue 1 right now, it would be the worst time possible to let him leave,” Gold said.

“We will see what happens there, it’s about the right fit for Postecoglou, get players that fit the system. Centre-back is the priority.”

Get it done

Time is of the essence for Tottenham in this hunt for a new centre-back, and if Dragusin can be signed ASAP, they need to get this deal done.

Is there an argument to make that Todibo is the better player? Of course there is, but, at the same time, Spurs need bodies through the door now, not at the end of the month.

Every point if valuable in this race for the top four or even the title, and the longer Spurs have to play two full-backs at centre-half, the more vulnerable they will be.

Dragusin could be the man for Spurs in this transfer window.
