Juventus are reportedly set to offer one of Paulo Dybala or Miralem Pjanic to Manchester United in a bid to lure Paul Pogba back to Turin.
According to a report from the Mirror this weekend, it is claimed Juventus are prepared to lose one of their stars, plus cash, in order to land Pogba again.
Pogba has long been linked with a move back to the Italian giants. He left Juve for Manchester originally but has struggled for consistency while at Old Trafford.
The Frenchman has missed the majority of this current season, too. Injuries have prevented him from being a regular under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has insisted all along he wants to keep Pogba.
However, with Juventus now potentially offering a big star like Dybala in exchange, the time could finally be right for United to act.
Dybala for Pogba makes perfect sense
Regardless of what happens with the current season, Man United need some strength in attacking areas.
The pressure on Marcus Rashford is too much. Anthony Martial, despite having a decent season, remains inconsistent while Mason Greenwood is still a young player.
Therefore, adding someone of Dybala’s quality and experience would be a huge boost. It could also bring the best out of Dybala again.
His last two seasons have yielded only five and seven goals. However, in the 2017/18 campaign, Dybala rattled in an impressive 22 goals.
And with Cristiano Ronaldo still firmly entrenched as the main man at Juve, Dybala might feel the time is right to finally move away from Turin.
Giving Solskjaer options in the final third
While Dybala’s arrival would add directly to the striking department, it also gives United further options.
The Argentinian is more than comfortable in wider areas and can play as a number ten as well. That number ten role could be crucial, especially given Solskjaer has alternated between a 4-2-3-1 and 3-4-3 formation recently.
Bruno Fernandes is currently occupying that number ten role with aplomb. However, Dybala’s arrival would give Fernandes the chance to drop ever so slightly deeper if needed. This would, naturally, see him on the ball even more.
With Dybala onboard Man United would suddenly have an attack to be feared across Europe. Rashford, Fernandes, and Dybala would be as good as any three.
Add to that the likes of Martial, James, and Greenwood in reserve and suddenly the Red Devils look more like their old selves.
