Tottenham Hotspur completed the signing of Emerson Royal overnight, according to Fabrizio Romano’s latest update.
Done deal
He says that Tottenham worked on a deal to sign the Barcelona right-back in the late hours of the evening.
Tottenham have agreed a fee worth just over £25 million for the rapid defender, who could come straight into Nuno’s starting line-up.
And the deal is now all set and ready to be announced by Spurs, in an exciting update.
Solving the issue
Tottenham landing Emerson should finally put to an end their issues at right-back.
Spurs have struggled to find a dependable right-sided defender, even since Kieran Trippier’s departure.
Serge Aurier was just too erratic in his defending, while Matt Doherty had a poor first season at the club.

Japhet Tanganga has started the campaign strongly, but Emerson may offer more to Tottenham in an attacking sense, and over the long-term it will now be expected that the 22-year-old will take his place.
Emerson is set to become Tottenham’s fifth signing of the summer, after the arrival of Bryan Gil, Pierluigi Gollini, Pape Sarr and Cristian Romero.
He could now make his debut for Tottenham after the international break, when they take on Crystal Palace.
