Journalist Duncan Castle has reported that Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho is an admirer of Lille defender Sven Botman.
Castles explained on a Transfer Window podcast that the Spurs boss is a fan of the 20-year-old.
He claims that Mourinho wants to improve the box-to-box midfield position and the left-sided centre-back area.
Botman fits the profile of a left-footed centre-half and he’s currently shining for Lille, who are sat third in Ligue 1 and are also in the knockout rounds for the Europa League.
The Dutchman has played every single minute in the league since joining from Lille in the summer, where he’s acted as a direct replacement for Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes.
He is an ex-Ajax academy prospect and it looks like the Dutch giants have produced yet another elite youngster.
Botman has become an ever-present in a Lille team that are in the title picture right now in the French top-flight and he’s looks an extremely talented youngster with a big future ahead of him.
Aged 20, he looks to be so mature already with his composure, pace and range of passing.
It’s no surprise to hear Mourinho is aware of the rising star and finding a left-footer to slot into his defence would be brilliant for Spurs.
It’s not clear if the North London club would be prepared to try sign Botman or what kind of price he’d be available for, but he’s definitely someone to keep an eye out for.
