Jamie Carragher has told Roy Keane and Gary Neville what he wants to see from Liverpool fans at Goodison Park this season, if one thing happens.
What’s the story?
Well, speaking on The Overlap, the Sky Sports pundit said he wants Liverpool fans to chant Rafa Benitez’s name if they take the lead away to Everton this season.
Carragher said: “My dream scenario is for Liverpool to go 1-0, 2-0 up at Goodison, and the Liverpool fans to start chanting Rafa Benitez’s name, and just watch the reaction in that stadium.”
Now, we can’t think of many things that would evoke more rage from the Goodison Park faithful than that!
Supporters were already unhappy with Benitez’s arrival anyway, so if his name is chanted while losing the Merseyside derby, fans will riot.
Things are pretty miserable at Everton right now.
In a poll run by The Athletic, Everton fans were seen as the fanbase with the least optimism ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
Merseyside derbies could save Rafa Benitez

On November 30th, Everton welcome Liverpool to Goodison Park.
Benitez – an unpopular figure at Everton – could see his fortunes change if he manages to get one over on his former side.
In fact, both games against Liverpool are crucial this season.

Yes, Carlo Ancelotti led Everton to their first win at Anfield in 22 years, but no fans were present.
If Benitez can get another win at Anfield, with the away end full of blue, his popularity would surely skyrocket.
Above all, it will be very interesting to see how the Spaniard’s appointment plays out.
