Jurgen Klopp has delivered a double injury boost ahead of Thursday night’s clash between Liverpool and Newcastle. Speaking ahead of the match, he gave updates on Roberto Firmino and Curtis Jones.
Liverpool come into the match having won their last five Premier League games. Not only that, but in those five games, they have conceded just one goal – keeping four clean sheets, beating Arsenal and Steven Gerrard’s Villa.
They come up against a Newcastle side guilty of a dismal performance on Sunday, arguably their worst of the campaign – losing 4-0 to Leicester. The Toon look bereft of quality in their fight against the drop.
Liverpool currently have five players sidelined, but Klopp has delivered a boost regarding two of those. Harvey Elliott, Nat Phillips and Divock Origi are likely to be missing from Thursday’s clash.

However, Klopp says that before Newcastle, Jones and Firmino are back in training. The German boss said Firmino is in contention after normal training, while Jones engaged in a partial session and could feature.
“Bobby trained normally yesterday so I would say he’s in contention. Curtis had a partial session with the team. Timing-wise, it couldn’t be better,” Klopp said on Wednesday, as per the Liverpool Echo.
Klopp on Firmino, Jones: Liverpool getting stronger ahead of Christmas
Liverpool are in stunning form. Momentum is with them, and they look unlikely to give up a charge for the Premier League title. Certainly, it is difficult to choose between Chelsea, Manchester City and the Reds.
But as City and Chelsea remain strong, Liverpool seem to be getting better and better. Now, with Firmino and Jones close to returning from injury and Origi only a few days away, the Reds will surely make it six wins from six.
