Last August Arsenal decided to sell young talent Donyell Malen. The young forward was sold to PSV Eindhoven with Arsenal deciding he was not set to become a future first-team regular.
It was a sale that left Arsenal fans fuming. The Gunners fans felt he was a top young talent. He was being compared to Dennis Bergkamp by many at the club and Arsenal fans were hopeful he could go on to become a first-team player.
When snapped up from Ajax three years ago it appeared Arsenal had a top talent. So it was odd to see him sold on after just two seasons.
Now, Arsenal are starting to see just what they are potentially missing out on.
Malen has become a member of the first-team at PSV this term. Yesterday he bagged his first Eredivisie goal for the club. The 19-year-old’s goal was his second for the first-team since joining up with the seniors. He had already netted against BATE Borisov in the Champions League before he found the net against NAC Breda this weekend.
It certainly seems as though the teenager is living up to the billing he had when he first headed to Arsenal.
