Earlier this week, Neil Warnock claimed that Dele Alli would be a “hell of a player” at Liverpool.

However, Anfield cult hero Jose Enrique has rubbished the recently-retired manager’s suggestion.

Answering fan questions on Instagram, the Liverpool icon suggested the Reds shouldn’t go near him.

Liverpool currently have plenty of great options in midfield.

And several talented players are also coming through the ranks.

When Georginio Wijnaldum left Liverpool on a free transfer last year, Jurgen Klopp opted to promote from within.

The likes of Curtis Jones and Tyler Morton have been doing incredibly well for the Reds.

Nonetheless, there’s certainly scope for Klopp to bring in fresh legs in midfield during the summer.

Meanwhile, Alli joined Everton from Tottenham in January, but he’s not featuring regularly for his new club.

The 26-year-old is yet to start a game for the Toffees and has spent the last four league games on the bench.

Warnock, speaking on Sky Sports on Saturday (9:40pm), thought Alli would suit a Liverpool or Manchester City.

“When I look at Dele, I feel sorry for him,” Warnock said.

“Everton aren’t a team good enough or strong enough to give him the ball in the right areas.

“I think if you put him into Liverpool or Man City’s team, then you would get a hell of a player out of him.”

On Tuesday, one of Enrique’s followers on Instagram asked him what he thought of Warnock’s comments.

He made his feelings very clear:

In a way, Warnock is praising Liverpool and Klopp (and City and Guardiola).

He’s suggesting they’re elite clubs and coaches that can get the best out of any player.

At the same time, Warnock is slating Everton, which will be music to Liverpool fans’ ears.

But realistically, Alli to Liverpool isn’t likely to ever go beyond a hypothetical scenario.
