‘Don’t hold your breath’: Some Newcastle fans react to Rodger’s pre-Leicester claim

Some Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media after Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers claimed he expects to see a challenge from Steve Bruce’s side.

The Foxes host the Magpies at the King Power Stadium on Friday night looking to avoid a first defeat in four Premier League encounters, having only tasted defeat in three of their 11 meetings since returning to the top-flight in 2014.

Newcastle lost 2-1 to Leicester at St. James’ Park in January when Andy Carroll’s late consolation goal failed to spark a comeback, but could seal their survival by taking a point on their travels with 18th-placed Fulham nine points behind with four games to play.

Bruce’s men have improved their away form in recent weeks with just one defeat in their last four Premier League road games, having been beaten in all but one of their previous eight.

Leicester will pose a threat to that record, with only Manchester City (12) winning more often on home soil than the Foxes (9) this term, but Rodgers is prepared to see his side fight to maintain their position given the demands put on Newcastle’s players.

“Newcastle have a fanatical fanbase, so every game is important and they will want to win them,” he said, via quotes by Leicestershire Live, on Wednesday. “They have good players and good staff behind them. We have to be ready for that challenge.”
