Tottenham fans have been reacting on Twitter today after reports emerged that they missed out on signing Wesley Fofana in the summer.

ESPN have claimed that Spurs and Jose Mourinho were keen on Fofana, before Leicester’s contacts in France allowed them to beat the north Londoners to the punch in a deal worth around £36m.

Fofana has gone on to become one of the stars of the Premier League season. The defender has played a big role as Leicester have shot themselves into title contention under Brendan Rodgers.

However, the news from ESPN hasn’t exactly gone down well among some Spurs fans on Twitter, especially with the club still said to be being in the hunt for a new defender.

It seems some Tottenham supporters believe they simply didn’t pay the money, while others are more upset at seeing a defender such as Fofana seemingly escape their clutches.
