'Done deal': Fabrizio Romano claims 'incredible' talent wanted by Spurs will now join London rivals
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Malcolm Ebiowei in recent weeks.
In May, The Sun reported that Spurs were weighing up a summer move for the Derby prodigy.
Then, the Daily Mail claimed Tottenham were up against a number of other Premier League clubs.
As well as Spurs, the likes of Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Newcastle United were pursuing Ebiowei.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the 18-year-old is London-bound – but not Tottenham.
The transfer guru claims Palace have won the race for the exciting winger.
Ebiowei came through the ranks at Arsenal, but left in 2019.
All Nigeria Soccer claimed at the time that the Gunners let him go.
Ebiowei subsequently had a spell at Rangers before joining Derby last summer.
He spent the first half of the campaign in the Rams’ youth setup.
Ebiowei scored seven times in seven Under-18 appearances and also featured for their U23s.
He then went on to make 16 Championship appearances for the Rams, registering one goal and two assists.
Playing as a right-sided winger under Wayne Rooney, Ebiowei showed huge potential.
He earned rave reviews for his displays last season, shining despite the Rams’ struggles and eventual relegation.
Rooney has hailed Ebiowei’s “incredible” attitude, adding that he was “excellent” in the 1-1 draw with Coventry in March.
And EFL analyst George Elek has described the youngster as an “absolute talent”.
It’s a shame for Spurs, but Ebiowei is probably likelier to get first-team football at Palace.
