Tottenham Hotspur have struck a deal to sell Dele Alli to Everton, according to Fabrizio Romano.

On Monday afternoon, various outlets reported that Spurs and the Toffees were in talks over the 25-year-old.

However, Romano has now claimed that there’s already been a big breakthrough over the Alli deal.

Here’s what the transfer guru wrote on Twitter regarding Alli to Everton:

Alli used to be a regular for club and country.

However, he’s been a fringe player at Tottenham for a while, and is out of Three Lions contention.

Alli has clocked up 269 appearances for Tottenham and 37 England caps.

Last season, he struggled for game time under former Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho.

Indeed, Alli was reportedly close to leaving last January amid links with Mauricio Pochettino’s Paris Saint-Germain.

Earlier this term, Nuno Espirito Santo reinstated Alli back to the starting XI, and he did well initially.

However, this didn’t last, and Alli soon found himself warming the bench once again, with the odd cameo.

Under Antonio Conte, the £100,000-a-week man has had a couple of starts, but was far from being a regular starter.

The talent is clearly there, as shown by some displays over the past year where he’s excelled.

Last season, Ryan Mason deemed him “excellent” for his display against Wolves in May.

And in August, Ian Wright hailed his “brilliant” performance – coincidentally, also against Wolves.

Alli clearly needs a fresh start and now it looks as though he’ll finally be getting it.
