Tottenham Hotspur eventually booked their place in the next round of the FA Cup by winning out in a pulsating encounter with Brighton and Hove Albion last night.
Goals from Harry Kane (2) and, Emerson Royal – via a deflection – ensured a safe passage for Antonio Conte’s side and sent Graham Potter’s Seagulls packing. It was, on the whole, a very good FA Cup tie.

Of course, in such games there are always going to be key performers. And watching on for the BBC last night was former Everton midfielder, Don Hutchinson, who felt that the performance from Harry Kane was that of a man who knows he is top dog at the club.
“Absolute class from Harry Kane. Brighton tried to play out from the back, they got it all wrong, Kane took it on the back foot and that is an unbelievable finish with a bit of curl right into the top corner,” Hutchinson said of Kane’s goal.
“It is like he owns the place, Harry Kane, he is so aware of what’s going on around him.”
Kane now has 15 goals in all competitions this season despite some suggestions he’s not quite at his best.
TBR’s View: Kane Vital To Any Tottenham Success
For all the talk in the summer of Kane potentially leaving the club, it’s still amazing to see the influence he has on Spurs.
Daniel Levy was probably right to keep rejecting bids. Frankly, who would they replace Kane with? Regardless of the fee the received.
Tottenham have a genuine chance of winning something under Antonio Conte. The FA Cup would be a real crowd pleaser and if Kane can keep up the level he showed last night, they’re in with a big shout of winning.
