Dominic Solanke hails Tottenham star as ‘one of the best players’ he’s ever played with

Dominic Solanke has heaped praise on a current Tottenham star, describing him as one of the best players he’s ever shared a pitch with.

Thomas Frank has yet to lose since succeeding Ange Postecoglou in June – he already holds the bragging rights in North London after defeating Arsenal 1-0 in Japan courtesy of a sensational halfway line goal by Pape Matar Sarr.

Spurs faced off against Newcastle on Sunday to round off the club’s summer tour of Asia, with Harvey Barnes scoring the equaliser in the first half after Brennan Johnson opened the scoring after four minutes, with the game finishing 1-1.

However, the match in Seoul, South Korea, held more significance than preparing for the upcoming Premier League campaign as a Tottenham legend waved goodbye to the fans for the final time.

Dominic Solanke lauds Son Heung-min

On Saturday, Son Heung-min announced he will leave Tottenham, calling time on his 10-year spell in North London.

The 33-year-old received a standing ovation as he made way for Mohammed Kudus after 65 minutes, and now another teammate has joined the outpouring Spurs tributes to one of the club’s most influential players of the Premier League era.

Writing on his Instagram account, Dominic Solanke said: “What a player and what a guy.

“One of the best players I’ve had the pleasure of playing with. It was only a year, but what a year it was.

“You deserve all the love and credit you’ve got throughout your time at the club, and we know wherever you go next, you’ll be loved and loved again. One of the nicest people in football!

“Your legacy will live forever, we will miss you, legend!”

As exclusively revealed by TBR Football, Son is in talks with LAFC and will remain in South Korea while the Tottenham squad returns to England ahead of his impending move to the MLS side.

Since 2014, Son’s been the most clinical finisher in football, and now, similarly to when Harry Kane departed for Bayern Munich, Tottenham must work hard to replace a significant goal threat.

Thomas Frank faces a monumental Tottenham replacement task

Although Son’s transfer to LAFC has not yet been formalised, Frank has less than two weeks to identify a suitable replacement for the Spurs captain.

Furthermore, Tottenham suffered a significant blow on Sunday after James Maddison sustained another injury setback, resulting in the England international joining Dejan Kulusevski on the sidelines.

Summer signings Mathys Tel and Kudus can operate on the flanks alongside Johnson. However, with Richarlison leading the line in pre-season and Solanke still to feature, the attacking options are dwindling.

Speculation is rife regarding who Tottenham will target to replace Son. Still, time is running out, with over a week before the side face PSG in the UEFA Super Cup, three days before the Premier League curtain raiser against Burnley.

Nevertheless, Son has etched himself into Spurs history by delivering the Europa League in May, ending the club’s 17-year wait for a trophy.

He will be dearly missed by the Tottenham faithful, but Frank cannot afford to waste too much time on sentiment with the start to his debut campaign just around the corner.
