Dominic Matteo has given a glowing verdict on Leeds United’s Stuart Dallas after his latest display.
The Whites recorded an impressive 1-1 home draw on Monday night in the Premier League, as Diego Llorente’s 87th minute header earned a deserved point against last season’s champions.
Dallas, who earns £23,000-a-week (Salary Sport) has been singled out for his individual performance.
The 30-year-old was his usual tireless self in the centre of the park, and he stood toe to toe against a Liverpool midfield stacked with so much experience on the elite stage.
He’s thrived as the box-to-box central midfielder in recent weeks, but it’s worth noting a large chunk of his season has seen the versatile star play left-back or right-back too.
Leeds-supporting pundit Matteo has given Dallas a special mention for how he continues to improve.
“The lads are learning every time they play. Even though some of the lads are 30, like Stuart Dallas who had his birthday on Monday, it feels like everyone is still getting better,” Matteo wrote for the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“Dallas in particular seems to grow in stature every game. He had a bit of a battle against Liverpool, it was a real test against good opposition but as the game went on he seemed to get better.”
If you’ve watched Dallas this season, it’s unbelievable to think this is only his first year playing Premier League football.
He’s turned into an absolute machine under manager Marcelo Bielsa that looks like he could play any position on the pitch, aside from goalkeeper or striker.
The Northern Ireland international has to be in the running for Leeds’ player of the season award.
He’s one of numerous individuals that have stepped up effortlessly from the Championship, but for some he’s the pick of the bunch.
