Dominic Calvert-Lewin has seen a lot during his time at Everton.
Just to highlight how strange Calvert-Lewin’s Everton career has been – he’s worked under both Sam Allardyce and Carlo Ancelotti, he’s acted as a strike partner for both Wayne Rooney and Salomon Rondon and there have been points deductions and all sorts of off-field drama along the way.
Calvert-Lewin has certainly learned to take the rough with the smooth at Goodison Park, but there have been times at Everton when things have looked very bright.
Indeed, when Calvert-Lewin first arrived on Merseyside, things were looking good for the Toffees as Marco Silva led Everton to a seventh-placed finish as Romelu Lukaku was arguably the best player in the Premier League that season.
Lukaku would, of course, leave Everton that summer, but Calvert-Lewin still has fond memories of playing with the Belgian as he told the Premier League’s YouTube channel.

Calvert-Lewin loved training with Romelu Lukaku
Calvert-Lewin spoke about working alongside Lukaku.
“Yeah it was great. Big Rom was there in my first season and then he moved on. To see how he trained and the intensity of how he did the finishing drills at a young age for myself was great to learn from,” Calvert-Lewin said.
Calvert-Lewin could’ve learnt so much from Lukaku
Romelu Lukaku would’ve been the perfect mentor for Calvert-Lewin at that time.
Calvert-Lewin was incredibly raw when he first joined Everton, and having the opportunity to learn from one of the most clinical strikers in the Premier League at that time must’ve been brilliant.
Both players are quite similar in the way they play, and you can even see elements of Lukaku in Calvert-Lewin’s game to this day.
It may only have been one season, but the time that Calvert-Lewin spent with Lukaku would’ve been very useful in terms of his development.
