Manchester United are lining up a surprise £50 million transfer for Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to The Sun.
The 22-year-old has scored three goals in two games since Carlo Ancelotti arrived at the club
United have identified the target man as an alternative to Erling Haaland who joined Dortmund instead of United.

The report suggests that Calvert-Lewin has been on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s radar for a while, as he tries to add to his ranks during January.
The £20,000-a-week (Spotrac) ace has eight goals in 14 Premier League appearances and is playing like a man in form.
He would bring a different option to United but he would be a downgrade on Haaland.
It would perhaps represent a sign of the times from a Red Devils perspective, as they face a fight to qualify for the Champions League.
Of course, with silly season approaching in terms of transfers it could be nothing more than paper talk.

Nonetheless, Manchester United fans have been reacting to this news on Twitter.
Some think it will turn out to be nonsense, whilst others don’t want him anywhere near Old Trafford if it’s remotely true.
