Everton have booked their place in the next round of the Carabao Cup following a 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
It was not the most convincing of performances from the Toffees, but their excellent start to the game proved enough for victory.
Everton were 2-0 up after just 10 minutes and the goals would have been extra special for the man who scored them.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin hit both of Everton’s goals. Whilst simply scoring will help to quieten his plentiful doubters at Goodison Park, doing so against the Owls would have been extra special.
The Everton striker grew up just down the road from Hillsborough but is a fan of their fierce rivals Sheffield United.
As he told The Star last spring, he remains a big supporter of the club. No wonder he happily cupped his ears toward the Wednesday fanbase last night.
“All of the lads know I’m a Blade. They all know where I’m from and what my background is…
“I’m always checking how United are getting on. I hope they get promoted because it would be wonderful going back in the Premier League. Fingers crossed it happens. That would be another brilliant thing to do.”
Calvert-Lewin joined Everton from Sheffield United in 2016 and has bee working hard to try and prove himself at Goodison Park.
He is often criticised for his lack of goalscoring ability but he showed he can be clinical in yesterday’s fixture.
Calvert-Lewin is now Everton’s joint top scorer this season, level with Richarlison’s three goals and is so far proving to be a more lethal attacker then summer recruit Moise Kean.
He will hope his midweek display helps him keep his place for Everton’s tough hosting of Manchester City at the weekend.
