'Doing very good': Thomas Partey says one Arsenal teammate has really impressed him at the World Cup
Saka has started in both of England’s games in Qatar and netted an impressive brace on his World Cup debut last week.
Partey has also carried his commanding performances into the tournament for Ghana and helped them beat South Korea 3-2 yesterday.
Now, the Arsenal midfielder has named Saka as the teammate who has really impressed him on the world’s biggest stage so far.
Partey says Saka has really impressed him
Speaking to London World, Partey revealed that he is not surprised by Saka’s brilliant start in the tournament.
He said: “Everybody needs their peace of mind. I wish them [Arsenal teammates] all the best, they know I support them fully, and they also support me – that’s how we are.
“We know Bukayo is doing very good, that’s what he does best – we all know what he can do so I’m not surprised.”
Saka has been a standout performer at the Emirates this season, netting five goals and registering six assists in 20 appearances.
The 21-year-old fully deserved his place in Gareth Southgate’s starting line-up against Iran and the USA.
The Gunners youngster scored two brilliant goals against Iran but struggled against America on Friday, along with the rest of the England side.
Despite this, he did look like one of England’s more threatening players on the night. Saka set-up Harry Kane for a chance in the first-half and also had a half-chance to score himself.
The winger will be hoping to keep his place in the side as England face Wales in their final group stage game tonight.
There have been calls for Phil Foden to be introduced into the starting line-up and if the Manchester City star gets the nod, either Saka or Raheem Sterling are likely to drop out.
But after Saka’s devastating display in the group opener, he deserves another chance to impress tonight.
