West Ham United boss David Moyes has singled four Hammers players out for praise – aside from Jesse Lingard – ahead of their Premier League game today.

The East Londoners are in fine form, sitting fifth in the table, just two points behind fourth-placed Liverpool.

West Ham are also in the fifth round of the FA Cup, and have won seven of their last eight games in all competitions, only losing to the reigning league champions.

The Hammers signed Lingard on loan at the end of last month and the Manchester United loanee hit the ground running at his new club with a brace at Aston Villa.

While the spotlight is shining mainly on Lingard, Moyes was eager to pay homage to other players who have been in great form in claret and blue.

“We always want to make sure we have got the ability to defend set-pieces – because if you don’t then you’re going to be in trouble,” he told Sky Sports.

“But it wasn’t the reason for signing Tomas Soucek. The reason for signing him was he scored the goals and his ability to be a midfield player, although obviously it does help with his stature.

“But we also have some talented small players as well and we need them to be the creativity. I felt Jesse would give us an extra one.

“We brought in Said (Benrahma), we brought in Jarrod Bowen, and there’s Pablo Fornals and Manuel Lanzini who are all doing great.”

It’s been a great season so far for West Ham, a team boasting plenty of high-calibre, on-form players delivering great football.

Lingard’s superb debut, combined with many of the team’s players continuing to shine, bodes well for the remainder of the campaign, with a top four finish very much within reach.
