Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon has been slated by Jamie Redknapp in wake of his performance for Spurs last night.
Ryan Mason’s charges fell to a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last night, Reguilon sadly playing a part in both of the opposition’s goals.
Steven Bergwijn gave the returning Spurs fans joy in the opening ten minutes as he dispossessed Marvelous Nakamba and thumped home a ferocious finish from inside the box.

However, Villa drew level on 20 minutes when a tentative Nakamba delivery into the Tottenham box was miscued by Reguilon, who sliced the ball into his own net.
Six minutes before half time, a Reguilon clearance was charged down and fell to Ollie Watkins, who duly bore down on goal and slotted home from close range.
Redknapp was critical of the left-back’s role in both goals, telling Sky Sports (via Optus Sport): “It’s poor technique, he’s falling over on his wrong foot.
“The second goal as well, this is a poor piece of play. His head is in a tumble dryer by this point. He doesn’t know what he’s doing. Do not play it inside and get caught again.”
TBR View:
It’s a good job that this horrid season is coming to an end soon for Spurs.
A campaign that promised so much is finishing with Tottenham’s Europa League qualifying hopes hanging by a thread, no silverware, and Harry Kane reportedly looking to leave.
And the confidence of quite a few players looks so low at present – Reguilon is a good player but he’s had a couple of bad games in recent months, so he’ll be happy that the season is soon over and he can regroup.
