James Maddison has been absolutely incredible since joining Tottenham in the summer.
The midfielder has been utterly brilliant, and what’s more is that he’s not missed much football due to injury.
Indeed, while Maddison struggled at Leicester City with injuries for quite some time, he’s managed to steer clear of those issues at Spurs.
However, by the sounds of it, he is being managed carefully behind the scenes.
Indeed, speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has been discussing Maddison after he wasn’t spotted in the Tottenham training video earlier this week, but Gold says that may well be down to the fact that Maddison doesn’t necessarily do every training session with the club due to small niggles and issues that he can pick up.

Maddison sometimes misses training
Gold shared what he knows about the £45m man.
“I know there’s been some concern as there always is as people have watched the training videos and haven’t seen James Maddison. Sometimes Maddison doesn’t do every session because he has little niggles and issues that mean he doesn’t. What I would say about training videos is you don’t know when they’re taken,” Gold said.
“It may well be that we find out something isn’t right, but nothing came from Postecoglou about Maddison.”
Worrying
While it’s great to see that Maddison has been able to stay fit throughout this season so far, it is worrying to hear that he’s not on a regular training schedule.
It sounds as though there are some underlying fitness issues that keep cropping up, and while Maddison’s first-team contributions haven’t been affected so far, if he isn’t training in the same way his other teammates are, then his fitness could falter in the long-term.
Of course, those in the club will know better than anyone how Maddison needs to be managed, but this is a little issue that is worth keeping an eye on throughout the season.
