‘Does this a lot’… Jamie Redknapp thinks he’s spotted one problem with Tottenham star Destiny Udogie’s game

Jamie Redknapp believes he’s spotted a problem with Tottenham Hotspur full-back Destiny Udogie’s game.

It was a familiar first half at Tottenham today as Ange Postecoglou’s side enjoyed a positive start to the game before losing their way later in the half.

Spurs opened the scoring through a Murillo own goal in the 15th minute after some good work from Timo Werner down the left-hand side.

But after Nottingham Forest grabbed an equaliser against the run of play just 12 minutes later, Tottenham lost their way in the opening period.

The goal was a soft one to concede from Spurs’ point of view as Destiny Udogie was caught out of position.

It led to Anthony Elanga getting in down the right-hand side and his cross was finished off by Chris Wood.

Redknapp has spotted a weakness in Udogie’s game

Speaking on Sky Sports at halftime, Redknapp raised concerns over Udogie’s positioning following Forest’s leveller.

The former Tottenham midfielder believes the Italian is often caught ball-watching.

“I did a game a few weeks ago, the Fulham game, and he gets caught,” Redknapp said. “He does this a lot. He ball-watches, Destiny Udogie.”

While Udogie has enjoyed an exceptional debut campaign at Spurs, there are bound to be areas where he can improve.

At 21, he’s adjusted to Premier League football with ease and continues to impress down the left-hand side.

Tottenham recover to beat Forest

We’ve seen Tottenham turn on the style at the start of the second half on plenty of occasions already this season.

Today proved to be no different as Micky van de Ven produced a stunning strike to restore Spurs’ lead in the 52nd minute.

Pedro Porro then popped up with a well-taken goal after James Maddison linked up with Werner down the left-hand side.

Postecoglou will undoubtedly be keen to address Spurs’ lacklustre first-half displays, particularity ahead of a difficult run of fixtures.

But after today’s 3-1 win, Tottenham have moved above Aston Villa into fourth place, with a game in hand over Unai Emery’s men.
