Does report drop surprise hint on Spurs’ plans for Oliver Skipp?

While it has been a difficult season for Tottenham Hotspur, there does appear to be a handful of players who have seen their stock rise over the course of the campaign.

Harry Kane has been outstanding once again. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has proved to be a very good signing. And Son Heung-min was outrageously good earlier in the season.

And one player on Tottenham’s books has certainly enjoyed a breakout campaign.

Oliver Skipp has been an incredible loan signing for Norwich City. He is the one member of Daniel Farke’s squad to have featured in every game as the Canaries strolled to the Championship title.

His form, coupled with Spurs’ struggles, has probably left many Tottenham fans imploring the club to make sure that they use him next season.

Norwich meanwhile, are unsurprisingly keen to hold onto the 20-year-old for another year (via Daily Mirror).

If it was up to many of the Spurs fans, Skipp would be going nowhere. But perhaps there has been the slightest indication this week that the club could end up feeling slightly differently.

In one of the more surprising rumours of the year, the Daily Mail has claimed this week that Tottenham want Celtic midfielder Ismaila Soro.

Soro has impressed whenever he has been given a chance for the Hoops. But he has not yet been able to cement himself in the team at Parkhead.

The Ivorian is a couple of years older than Skipp. So if Spurs managed to bring him in, Skipp would surely find himself further down the pecking order – initially, at least.

Of course, much will surely depend on who succeeds Jose Mourinho in North London.

But if Soro does arrive, perhaps that would prove to be a hint that Tottenham feel that Skipp needs another loan.
