Rangers picked up an impressive 3-1 win over Rapid Vienna on Thursday night and it was a good return to the side for defender Jon Flanagan.
The Gers moved top of their Europa League group with a win and continued their eye-catching run in Europe so far this season, which has supporters ecstatic they are back in the big time.
Manager Steven Gerrard decided to recall versatile full-back Flanagan to the starting XI at left-back against Vienna, meaning Borna Barisic dropped out to the bench.
The duo are in a fierce battle for the left-back slot this campaign, but Thursday night may have proved Flanagan deserves the nod in the crunch fixtures this season.
Flanagan defended astutely against Vienna when he had to and is someone that Gerrard can trust to stick to his defensive tasks.
The 25-year-old has top level experience from his days with Liverpool and has proven to be a safe pair of hands since his move to Ibrox.
He is slightly limited going forward due to the fact he is right-footed and Barisic gives the team a greater attacking balance when he plays, but ultimately Rangers need to ensure they are set up right at the back against top opposition.
Barisic, 25, is an attack-minded full-back that is still improving and the hectic fixture list means both players are set for plenty of minutes.
