This time last year, Leeds United’s under-23s advanced to the quarter-finals after defeating Fulham in the Premier League Cup on penalties.
One of the stars of the game was Leeds United’s talented young full-back Bryce Hosannah.
He set up the equalising goal from Izzy Brown and put in a generally impressive display from right wing-back, as he had for the entire season.
But one year on, what does the future hold for Hosannah at Leeds United?

The 20-year-old’s season did not start in the greatest of fashions. After being included in Leeds’ pre-season tour to Australia he later suffered an injury and had to undergo surgery in August. It came after a 2018-19 campaign which had also been disrupted by injury troubles.
Regardless, his talent is such that Leeds handed Hosannah a new contract in September. The report from the Leeds website did not specify the length of the deal but considering he had signed a new deal until 2020 in the summer of 2018, it would appear Hosannah is penned to stay at Leeds until, at least, 2021.
Hosannah later found himself in the Leeds United first-team squad for the first time, sitting on the bench as the Whites defeated Huddersfield Town 2-0 in December.
With the current season up in the air, Leeds could end up playing a host of games in close proximity if the season restarts and Marcelo Bielsa will need some of the trusted members of the under-23 squad at his disposal.
At which point Hosannah might get a chance to prove himself worthy of a long-term future at Elland Road. After continually battling back from disappointing injury blows, he certainly deserves another year at Leeds to try and breakthrough.
