They are entertaining and they want it more than everybody else

Almost every Leicester match this season has been entertaining to watch. They had scored in every match this term until their 0-0 with Manchester City in the last game of December. Vardy and Mahrez are constantly giving defenders a headache with their direct running and tricky skills. It isn’t just their two main men at the pinnacle of the attack who are chipping in with the goals for Leicester however. Robert Huth and Marc Albrighton are just two of the other Leicester players who have got their names on the score-sheet this season.

Regarding The Foxes wanting it more than anybody else, every time Leicester step out onto the pitch, they look like they can win the match. They are never frightened or nervous about the opposition and just concentrate on the task at hand. Furthermore, it is not only the Leicester City players that believe they can win the league, the fans now do too. Three fans in particular have gone the extra mile to prove their support for the Foxes. The first one is the extremely fortunate Leicester fan who won £5,000 when he made a £5 bet with Ladbrokes that his team would be top at Christmas back when the odds were 1000/1.

Second is Lee; the Leicester fan, who phoned in to a football debate show on BBC Radio 5 Live on 19th of December and sobbed to Robbie Savage; a former Leicester midfielder, about his team. The most moving part of the call was when he talked about telling his son to stick with The Foxes instead of supporting Manchester United, Arsenal or Liverpool because Leicester would come through. He went on to say that his son looked him in the eye on the day when Leicester eventually got to the top of the league and proclaimed: “Dad, dad amazing, absolutely amazing’.” For probably the first time in his life, Robbie Savage didn’t retaliate with a daft dad joke. When Lee said to Robbie “You can’t tell me we haven’t got a chance of winning the league”, Robbie’s only response was “Lee, Lee how can I tell you that you can’t win the league after that?”

If I’m being completely honest, that is the moment I knew that I wanted Leicester to win the Premier League. That football fan really got to me and I think most football fans would find it hard to disagree. That’s what football is all about and in two minutes on a radio phone-in, this fan epitomised why people support football teams and why football is so important to them. The last Leicester fan is the most vocal of them all and that is none other than Mr Gary Lineker. On 14th of December, he tweeted that if Leicester won the Premier League, he would do the first ‘Match of the Day’ of 2016/17 in solely his underpants. Whilst this would not necessarily be the most pleasant sight to see on a Saturday evening, it seems Gary will have to hit the gym because Leicester are on course for the title!
