Everton threw away a point in the Merseyside derby yesterday. With just moments left to play, Jordan Pickford made a huge error to gift Belgian striker Divock Origi with a headed chance to win the game.
Credit, however, must be shown to the substitute, who was the only man who followed Virgil van Dijk’s ballooned effort into the box. His gamble paid off and Origi is now the toast of Anfield.
Origi’ goal is all the more painful for Everton, considering the fact the Toffees are believed to be interested in his signature.

As reported by the Liverpool Echo, Everton boss Marco Silva is keen on signing the player. The report suggested that Origi’s time at Anfield was coming to an end – with Liverpool set to sell for a fee in the region of £20 million.
Wolves are also keen on a player whose career has stalled since an ankle injury inflicted by Ramiro Funes Mori in a 2016 Merseyside derby clash.
After struggling on loan at Wolfsburg last season it was expected Origi would leave in the summer but he turned down a Molineux switch and Borussia Dortmund’s loan bid was rejected.
Everton were reportedly keen on a move in the new year. But after yesterday, the first Liverpool to Everton transfer since the late Gary Ablett in 1992 seems extremely unlikely.
