Liverpool fans are shocked to hear that Mohamed Salah has not been included in their extended leadership group.
Salah left out
Jurgen Klopp spoke yesterday and revealed that Liverpool’s players had voted to put Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and Alisson Becker into their captaincy circle for the current season.
Liverpool’s current captaincy group contains Jordan Henderson, Virgil van Dijk and James Milner.
And Reds fans were surprised that Salah was not given the nod by his teammates to be given a more influential role.
Leading by example
Salah, in truth, isn’t the most vocal of players – but he has led by example for Liverpool for many years.
Indeed, he has been one of Liverpool’s most consistent performers, particularly over the last year.
Given his importance to the team, longevity of service and quality is it rather surprising that he wasn’t backed by his peers to be promoted into a leadership role.
However, Salah may well have not wanted the added distraction.
The Egyptian has started the season in flying form, and if Liverpool are to challenge for the league title they will need him to continue to hit the back of the net with such regularity throughout the campaign.
