Sky Sports pundits Jamie Redknapp and Michael Dawson think Newcastle United midfielder Joe Willock will be frustrated after a moment in the first-half.

Newcastle travelled to Wolves today and drew 1-1 against Bruno Lage’s men.

Eddie Howe’s side were underwhelming for large periods of the first-half but Willock did get a big chance within the first 15 minutes of the game.

The former Arsenal man missed a great opportunity after the ball fell to him inside the Wolves penalty area.

But the 23-year-old put his effort just wide and the Magpies missed an opportunity to go 1-0 up at Molineux.

Willock will be frustrated

Dawson and Redknapp told Sky Sports that Willock will be hugely disappointed to have missed the chance early in the game

“He’ll be so disappointed, they [Newcastle] keep it alive,” Dawson said.

“Left foot, could he go for the far corner? It just comes off his heel. It’s his wrong foot, I get that. He’s got to hit the target.”

Redknapp added: “He should score here. He just panics a little bit. The ball is sort of spinning as well.”

Willock has been an important part of the Newcastle side since making the switch from Arsenal last summer. He’s popped up with some big goals for the club and will be frustrated to have missed a good opportunity.

But Allan Saint-Maximin did rescue a point for the Magpies after a brilliant long-range volley. Newcastle came on really strong at the end of the game and had decent opportunities to win the game.

Howe’s men will be delighted to have secured a point after being on the verge of defeat and they now remain unbeaten in the Premier League.

Wolves did have a goal ruled out in the 81st minute which would have put them 2-0 up. But Newcastle kept on pushing and came away with a decent point.
