Dion Dublin says he’s still not convinced £60m player is good enough for Tottenham

Richarlison has really stepped up at Tottenham in recent weeks.

The Brazilian, for the longest time, struggled to score goals in this Tottenham team, but now, he has six goals in six matches and he’s finally starting to win some of his doubters over.

However, this purple patch hasn’t convinced everyone just yet. After all, we had 18 months of poor performance before this run of form.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Dion Dublin has been discussing Richarlison’s recent run of form, and he says that while he has been impressed, he’s still not totally convinced the £60m man is good enough to be Tottenham’s long-term centre-forward.

Dublin not convinced by Richarlison

The pundit shared his view on the South American.

“Has Richarlison convinced you now that he’s the long-term centre-forward for Tottenham?” Dublin was asked.

“Not yet, not yet. Despite some really good games, and that’s a really good goal, he’s doing really well, but I want to see more. I’ve seen him play for his country, I want to see the guile he’s got, I want to see him hold up the ball, stay on his feet, he has a lot of talent, if he can consistently score goals and get one in two or one in three until the end of the season, he will have a good tally. He has everything you need, but just give it to me more consistently,” Dublin said.

Plenty to prove

Richarlison is doing brilliantly right now, but he does still have a lot to prove.

We’ve seen strikers have purple patches like this only to fall away again on numerous occasions, and Richarlison still has loads to prove in terms of consistency.

The Brazilian is certainly moving in the right direction, but it’s tough to say that he’s shown enough to prove he should be Spurs’ long-term number nine after just a handful of standout performances.

Richarlison has momentum behind him, but he still needs to show his ability on a more consistent basis.
