Liverpool are set to be without Mo Salah for the weekend Premier League clash with Leicester City.

The Egypt international tested positive for Covid-19 last week, and has been in isolation since Friday.

There had been hope amongst supporters that Salah would be available for the clash if he returned a negative test, but Premier League protocols state any player testing positive must isolate for a minimum 10 days, no exceptions (Mirror).

Losing Salah is a huge blow for Liverpool, who are already without key players such as Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Fabinho, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Thiago.

Salah has started 2020/21 in tremendous form and has arguably been the Reds best player so far.

But Jurgen Klopp has quality in reserve, and there’s a reason for Liverpool fans to be optimistic despite the news about Salah.

Diogo Jota is in brilliant form at the moment, and statistics show he enjoys playing against Leicester.

The £45 million star (BBC Sport) has scored four times against the Foxes in his career so far – once for FC Porto in the Champions League and he hit a brilliant hat-trick for Wolves against them in the 2018/19 season.

TBR’s View – In-form Jota to come through?

Any team would be stung losing a player like Salah, but thankfully for Liverpool Jota is really on his game right now.

The Portugal international should head into this one full of confidence in the knowledge he has made life difficult for Leicester in the past.

He ripped them apart in the 4-3 win in January 2019, although Leicester’s defence is more stronger today

It’ll be a tough game given all the other Reds absences, but Jota may just be the key to three points.
