Liverpool cruised into the EFL Cup final this evening as they saw off a disjointed looking Arsenal side to win out at The Emirates.

Diogo Jota was the man of the moment for the Reds, scoring twice to take the game away from the Gunners and ensure Jurgen Klopp’s men of a place in the final. The Portuguese forward has stepped up to the plate of late, and once again delivered this evening.

Jota’s double means it’s now 14 for the season for the Liverpool star. His goals are vital for the Reds, who have lost both Mo Salah and Sadio Mane to AFCON duty this month. Indeed, the former Wolves man’s form certainly seemed to catch the eye of a few on Twitter.

One of those to be impressed with Jota’s performance at Arsenal was Premier League record goalscorer, Alan Shearer, who took to Twitter to show his appreciation of the Liverpool man.

Of course, if anyone knows a good striker when he sees one it’s Shearer. The former England man still holds the Premier League record for goals by some margin. Jota, then, can be delighted with catching the eye of Shearer.

Beyond Shearer, Talksport regular, Trevor Sinclair was also impressed with Jota. He too took to social media to give his thoughts on the Liverpool man.

Jota will be hoping to continue his fine run of form this weekend for Liverpool. The Reds take on Crystal Palace, who they smashed the goals past last season.
