Dinamo Zagreb manager Fabio Cannavaro says two things which Arsenal are really good at after losing to them in the Champions League

As a player Fabio Cannavaro faced Arsenal four times, once winning 3-0 with Inter Milan at Highbury in the Champions League back in 2003.

Cannavaro beat Arsenal twice and drew once, but he was also part of Inter’s team who were famously beaten 5-1 by the Gunners at the San Siro, a night in which Thierry Henry starred.

Of course, the Italian legend faced Arsenal for the first time as a manager in charge of Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday evening, which was also his first game with the Croatian side.

In truth, it was a relatively straight forward tie for Mikel Arteta’s side, who were expected to beat weaker opposition at the Emirates Stadium.

Gabriel Martinelli was excellent for Arsenal, as was Declan Rice, who was given a license to attack as Arteta’s number eight.

That being said, Cannavaro spoke to TNT Sports after the game and reflected on his own side’s performance as well as the strength of Arsenal.

In turn, the Italian complimented Arteta’s side in two areas in particular, their short and long range passing.

Arsenal’s style has changed quite significantly since Cannavaro used to face Arsene Wenger’s sides as a player.

But the Dinamo manager was still impressed: “Of course we knew it wouldn’t be easy tonight, I told my players that this kind of game against this kind of team, you need to have patience, you need a lot of running.

“You need to try and close the space but they are good in the short ball, the long ball, they are really good.”

Of course, the challenge for Arsenal will now be replicating that confident attacking display away to Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend.

Ethan Nwaneri proves his worth for Arsenal again

Ahead of Wolves, Ethan Nwaneri’s return to fitness was incredibly timely for Arsenal against Dinamo.

Nwaneri instantly showed his class when coming on, nearly providing a deft assist for Rice to head home at the far post.

On his part, Arteta has asked Rice to score more often, a message he’s been pedalling to all of Arsenal’s midfielders.

Arsenal are trying to sign Benjamin Sesko, but until then they will need help harvesting goals from all areas of their squad.

Kai Havertz was excellent against Dinamo, but he can’t shoulder the club’s goalscoring hopes on his own.
