Nottingham Forest announced yesterday that goalkeeper Dimitar Evtimov has been released from his contract at the City Ground. The Bulgarian had slipped down the pecking order and off the radar for Forest in recent times and the decision did not surprise many.
But it is certainly some fall from grace for a player who achieved an impressive accolade five years ago. Due to his form with the Nottingham Forest development team, the stopper was handed the Football League Apprentice of the Year award in 2013.

Since he picked up the gong, future Premier League stars like Ademola Lookman, Lewis Cook and Ryan Sessegnon have all claimed the award themselves.
But that has proved to be the highlight of his Forest career.
Loan spells at Nuneaton, Mansfield, Portuguese side Olhanense and Port Vale have had their mixture of success.
He has played just three times for the first-team since that award and appeared to be overtaken by Jordan Smith in the keeper development field.
Now he is free to find another club and hopefully get back on track toward first-team senior football.
