Jamie Redknapp believes Richarlison is one of very few Tottenham Hotspur players who hasn’t improved under Ange Postecoglou.
Speaking on Sky Sports ahead of Tottenham’s 4-1 win over Newcastle today, Redknapp discussed Richarlison’s difficult start to life in North London.
The 26-year-old has endured a tough first year at Tottenham after joining from Everton last summer.
Richarlison has put in some promising displays off the left-hand side but failed to make an impact at centre-forward at the start of the season.
The Brazilian has recently returned from a groin injury and was given the nod to lead the line against Newcastle on Sunday, with Son Heung-Min moving out to the left-hand side.

He netted two goals for Tottenham today either side of halftime but Redknapp was unconvinced by his ability to lead the line for Spurs before today’s game.
Redknapp says Richarlison hasn’t improved under Postecoglou
Speaking ahead of kick-off, Redknapp feels most of Tottenham’s players have improved under Postecoglou’s guidance.
But the former Spurs man feels Postecoglou is yet to figure out how to get the best out of Richarlison.
“It’s been difficult for him,” he said. “When I think about Postecoglou, he’s sprinkled his stardust on most players and they’re all working.
“He’s made players we didn’t think were good enough for Spurs work. This one he’s still yet to figure out.
“That’s because he’s had a lot of injuries. But it could change, who knows?”

Michael Dawson was also covering the game on Sky Sports and added that he feels Richarlison needs to score more goals.
“He needs to bring goals to the games,” he said. “That’s something we haven’t seen since he’s been in a Spurs shirt.
“He came on in midweek, Son went to the left and Richarlison went through the middle and he had a headed opportunity at 1-1 and past the post. Fine margins. They need to go in the back of the net.”
Richarlison has struggled to find the back of the net frequently at Spurs but today’s game should give him a much-needed boost in confidence.
The Brazilian looked a real threat against the Magpies and seemed rejuvenated after coming back from a recent injury.
Of course, Redknapp and Dawson were rightfully doubtful over Richarlison ahead of today’s game given his struggles at Spurs. But he may have proved them wrong with today’s display as he showed he is capable of leading the line for Tottenham.
